Two Questions About Life

I told a fib in my Gifted Algebra II class.

I told 11 classmates I was doing an experiment for a school project. I told them I needed answers to 2 questions on a slip of paper.

  1. If you could have anything in the world, what would it be?
  2. If you could know the answer to any question, what would the question be?

This week I found those slips of paper in a drawer.

Results are in…

  1. Hapiness (6/11); To be a pro baseball player (2/11); Not to be a bum (1/11); Faith (1/11); I don’t know (1/11)
  2. Why am I here? / What happens after I die? / Where did I come from? (8/11); I don’t know (2/11); Does $$ make you happy? (1/11)

Immature high schoolers or not, I think most got the point.

It’s funny what people say when their anonymity is preserved.

“Almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.”

-Steve Jobs, Stanford University (June 2005)
